Families face stressful events every day—from the death of a loved one, to a sudden diagnosis, to job loss, to overwhelming caregiving responsibilities. During these moments, the mental load can become crushing. Decisions pile up. Logistics feel impossible. And often, the hardest part is simply knowing where to start.

This tool won’t remove the pain or the complexity of what you’re going through. But it will give you clarity, structure, and a sense of grounding—so you don’t have to walk through the overwhelm alone.

Know Your Stress Load

Family Stress Assessment

Not sure where to start? Take the Family Stress Assessment — a quick checklist based on the Holmes-Rahe Stress Scale — to measure your stress load and get a personalized starting point for your TARA conversation.

Adapted from Thomas Holmes and Richard Rahe. Holmes-Rahe Social Readjustment Rating Scale, Journal of Psychosomatic Research. Vol II, 1967.
